Best before

In these works, I explore the emotional sustainability of objects. After the death of my parents and due to my studying daughters, I was left with countless items filled with memories: letters, diaries, clothing, and other emotional keepsakes. Things that provide comfort but also become burdens.
In this exhibition, I redefine the significance of these items. I study, cherish, and honor them—perhaps in order to eventually let them go. This includes the airmail correspondence between my mother and grandmother from the 1960s. What remains of a memory when the object disappears? And how long does something endure if no one knows the story anymore? In 'Best Before', I investigate the transience of memory itself. My work is an ode to what is left behind, but also to the ability to create new meaning."
